Out There: Nebraska & the Great Plains in the Movies
Literally, mesmerizingly bright and figuratively very, very dark, horrifically grisly and beautifully antiseptic, BADLANDS is a brilliant paradox. If I ever make a list of my favorite films, BADLANDS will be on it. It was Terrence Malick’s first feature and, I think, his finest. (Kurt Andersen)
