Film Streams, Omaha’s nonprofit dedicated to the presentation and discussion of film, is now accepting submissions for its ninth annual Local Filmmakers Showcase—a curated program featuring work by area artists.
Filmmakers are invited to submit their work by sending a completed submission form (available at http://bit.ly/2K75QMd) to email@example.com. Or, by sending a DVD or flash drive along with completed submission form to: Film Streams, Attn: Sally Otis, P.O. Box 8485, Omaha, NE 68108. Discs and drives will not be returned. There is no fee for entry.
For a project to be eligible, at least one of its filmmakers must be a resident of Nebraska or Iowa. Students attending college in the showcase region are welcome to submit.
Films must be completed at the time of submission and received by Film Streams no later than Friday, July 27, 2018. A maximum of three submissions are allowed per filmmaker. It is the applicant’s responsibility to gain permissions for any borrowed intellectual property, like music, prior to submission. We encourage filmmakers to submit pieces no longer than 40 minutes in length. Movies that have screened publicly for a paying audience (outside of festivals) will not be considered for this program.
For a third year, space in the program will be reserved for a deserving entry by filmmakers who are in primary or secondary-school. Area elementary, middle, and high school students and classes are encouraged to submit projects for the Student Spotlight.
Submissions will be reviewed by an independent jury composed of visual artists who created art for the newly renovated Dundee Theater.
The 2018 Local Filmmakers Showcase will take place in November. Filmmakers whose work is selected for the showcase (as well as their collaborators, families, and friends) will be invited to an opening night celebration and screening. For each film selected, filmmakers will receive a percentage of the box office for the premiere and encore screenings of the showcase, plus an honorarium.
