Film Streams @Home FAQ

Below are answers to the most common questions about our Film Streams @Home Virtual Release platform. If you have additional questions, please submit a support request here.

Q: HOW DO I WATCH THE FILMS?

A: To begin, create an account at FilmStreamsathome.org. We’ll only ask for your name, email address, and a password. Then, click “get@home tickets + donate” below the film image. You’ll be given an opportunity to make an optional donation to our organization. Thank you in advance if you choose to contribute. You’ll then be taken to a payment screen, where you can enter your credit card information.

Once your payment has been processed the film will immediately become available to you on the platform. You will also receive a confirmation email. If the film has does not immediately appear as available, try refreshing your browser. You have 30 days to begin watching your rental, and when you start playing the film, you have a 48-hour watch window. To stream movies in the future, you can simply log in.

Film Streams @Home’s confirmation emails do not contain a link to watch the film. To view the films you've rented through this platform sign in, click “My Account” and select “My Screenings,” where you'll be able to see a list of all your purchased films.

You should be able to stream the film on your computer, tablet, or mobile device, and, if you have a television that is able to mirror or cast your computer or phone, your television as well.

Q: I JUST PURCHASED THE FILM, BUT I DON'T SEE HOW TO WATCH IT?

A: First, check for your confirmation email to make sure your purchase went through. If it did not, please contact us here.

To view the films you've rented through this platform sign in, click “My Account” and select “My Screenings,” where you'll be able to see a list of all your purchased films.

Q: I LIVE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY, CAN I STILL RENT FILMS THROUGH FILM STREAMS @HOME?

A: Due to contracts with distributors, our platform is limited to purchases within the US and Canada. Because our site does not use geotracking, the only way we are able to verify your location is through your credit card purchase. You will need an active American or Canadian zip code associated with a credit card in order to purchase a film through our platform. Thanks for understanding.

Q: HOW DO I WATCH THE FILM ON MY TV USING AIRPLAY OR CHROMECAST?

A: Watch our Film Streams @Home offerings on your Smart TV by mirroring your laptop or mobile device or by connecting your laptop to your television with an HDMI cable. More often than not, the best tech help for this would come through your device manufacturer.

If, after testing your mirroring connection with other media and apps, you are still having issues specifically with our platform, please submit a support request here.

Q: DO FILM STREAMS MEMBERS GET MEMBER PRICING ON VIRTUAL RELEASES?

Yes, as a Film Streams Member you are entitled to discount pricing on all the films on the @Home platform. Non-member film prices are $12; member film pricing is $8.

Your member discount code, valid for all films, will be e-mailed to you monthly. Please check the email address associated with your Film Streams membership for the email containing the code. If you are a Film Streams member you may also click here for further assistance. If you do not know the email address associated with your Film Streams membership please contact our Membership Coordinator.

Once you have your code, you may rent the film through our platform. On the credit card information entry screen click “Apply Code,” Enter the discount code, click the pink arrow to validate the code, enter your credit card information, and click “Pay.”

If you receive an “Invalid Code” message, please make sure you are using the most current discount code. If you still have problems after ensuring you are using a timely code, please submit a support request here.

Q: CAN I USE FILM STREAMS GIFT CARDS FOR @HOME RENTALS?

A: Unfortunately, that's not an option at the moment. You'll be able to use gift cards when we reopen — thank you for your support!
