A Message from Film Streams

Update (March 25,2020):
With our cinemas temporarily closed, we are excited to be collaborating with some terrific distributors to bring a bit of the Film Streams experience to your home. MORE INFO

Update (March 19,2020):
In accordance with CDC recommendations and the Douglas County Health Department public health order issued March 18, Film Streams will be extending the temporary closing of our theaters through April 30. This page has been updated to reflect a tentative reopening date of May 1. All other information remains accurate and up-to-date.

While it breaks our hearts to be closed, we are proud to stand in solidarity with our community in working to prevent the virus’ spread. We are also enormously grateful for the amazing donors and members standing by our side during this unprecedented time. With our cinemas closed, and daily theater sales at a complete standstill, contributed support truly means more now than ever.

How to Support Film Streams

_____________

Dear Film Streams Family:

In consideration of public health concerns over the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and community-wide efforts to slow its spread, Film Streams will be temporarily closing our cinemas, the Ruth Sokolof Theater and Dundee Theater, through April 30. Our restaurant partner at the Dundee Theater, Lola’s, is also closed at this time.

While there has been no known exposure or diagnosis of COVID-19 at our cinemas or administrative office, we believe a temporary closure of our cinemas is in the best interest of our patrons, staff, volunteers, and the community in general as we all do our part to reduce the risk of COVID-19 spreading in a manner that overwhelms our healthcare system. We are hopeful, like so many others, that steps being taken now throughout our community will help flatten the curve of the virus' spread.

All regular, daily showtimes during this period will be canceled. Collaborative screenings and special programs planned for the weeks ahead will be postponed, with new dates and times to be determined and announced when appropriate. Please check our website, enewsletter, and social media for updates to come.

All patrons who have purchased or reserved tickets for programs scheduled during the next two weeks will be contacted by Film Streams staff about refunds and exchanges.

During this temporary closure, all Film Streams staff, including hourly employees whose schedules will be affected, will continue to receive full pay. We are extraordinarily grateful for the community of Film Streams supporters who make that possible.

To all of our supporters, members, patrons, partners, and our amazing team of volunteers, we look forward to reopening our doors and relighting our screens soon. Our decision to close temporarily is difficult for so many reasons, not the least of which is knowing how much our cinemas are seen and shared as community spaces and places to find connection and conversation. Thank you for your understanding and patience. If you have any questions, concerns, or if you’re looking to connect with someone, please reach out to us. We are here for you!

Take good care,
