Celebrate the first-ever Art House Theater Day with this special screening of A TOWN CALLED PANIC: THE SPECIALS. Film Streams will also offer special Art House Day showings of TIME BANDITS and DANNY SAYS.
With disarming wit and hilarious visuals, A TOWN CALLED PANIC has been a Film Streams staff favorite since we screened it in 2010. Two new shorts, in a special Art House Day theatrical release, continue the adventures of the film’s plasticine heroes, delivering brilliant, over-the-top visual inventiveness and a classic slapstick sensibility that is perfect for all ages.
In “The Christmas Log,” their out-of-control antics lead Horse to call Santa and cancel the presents. But the boys figure they can still save Christmas… if they break into their neighbor’s house to steal his yule log! (Dir. by Stephane Aubier & Vincent Patar, 2015, Belgium, in English, 26 mins., Not Rated / Suitable for all ages)
In “Back to School,” a class assignment yields a special prize, but only Pig knows the answer. Cowboy and Indian use a special shrinking potion to try and sneak into Pig’s brain, where they discover a sodium-packed world of pig cops riding in bacon cars and sausage cycles. (Dir. by Stephane Aubier & Vincent Patar, 2015, Belgium, in English, 26 mins., Not Rated / Suitable for all ages)
Art House Theater Day is a nationwide celebration of the art house theatre and the cultural role it plays in a community. It is a day to recognize the year-round contributions of film and filmmakers, patrons, projectionists, and staff, and the brick and mortar theatres that are passionately dedicated to providing access to the best cinematic experience.
