From the moment that 2001 audiences saw Amélie’s initial cascade of storybook images flash across the screen, they knew they were in for something special. French filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s ode to the magic of Paris became the top-grossing film of the director’s career thanks to the inventive story, delightful cinematography, and actress Audrey Tautou’s infectious charm.
At a tiny Parisian café, the adorable yet painfully shy Amélie accidentally discovers a gift for helping others. Soon Amelie is spending her days as a matchmaker, guardian angel, and all-around do-gooder. But when she bumps into a handsome stranger, will she find the courage to become the star of her very own love story?

Amélie played exclusively at the Dundee Theater in the fall of 2001 before its wide American release in February of 2002. In the early 2000s, the Dundee began its popular years-long series of weekly midnight movies, often selling out shows to the late-night crowd. Memorable titles included Pulp Fiction, Donnie Darko, and The Room, but whatever the title, it always followed the trailer for Changing Lanes.
Lola's has been a part of the Dundee Theater since 2019. Enjoy a delicious farm-to-table meal before your film and make a reservation!
