Backrooms started when an unsettling image on Reddit sparked the imagination of a teenage Kane Parsons. When COVID hit and the young director had nothing to do, he taught himself 3D animation and explored his new hobby by posting shorts on YouTube extrapolating that initial creepy image into POV, found-footage horror. Now at 20, he's turned it into his first feature length film and teamed up with seasoned actors Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) and Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value) to do it.
