Film Information
In 1983 there was A Christmas Story, but years before that, Bob Clark made a different, slightly darker, holiday tale. Inspired by the urban legend "the babysitter and the man upstairs" and a series of murders that took place in the Westmount neighborhood of Montreal, Quebec, Black Christmas is noted as one of the earliest slasher films. Enjoy this genuine classic at the Ruth as it celebrates it's 50th anniversary!
A series of obscene phone calls start to plague the residents of a sorority and it becomes clear that a psychopath is homing in on the sisters with dubious intentions. And though the police try to trace the calls, they discover that nothing is as it seems during this Black Christmas.
Reviews
"The frenzied flurry of the narrative is perfectly fleshed out from start to finish. A voyeuristic portion of shock cinema that earned its cult following, but also still, decades later, needs to continue to be labelled as an innovator of a significant chapter of the horror genre." – Filmotomy
