Considered one of the last great films of the silent era, BLACKMAIL was quickly remade as a talkie. The silent version is only available thanks to the meticulous work of the British Film Institute. When a policeman investigates a murder, he realizes that his girlfriend was cheating on him with the victim — and that she’s the murderer. Unfortunately, he’s not the only one to put the pieces together, and soon he and his love are the target of extortion.
The Score
Collaborators Joseph Knapp (Son, Ambulance, The Churls), Jim Schroeder (UUVVWWZ), Luke Polipnick (The Luke Polipnick Trio), and Dana Murray (Wynton Marsalis) will write and perform an original score to the film featuring classically trained soprano Amanda DeBoer Bartlett.
