Despite a big budget, juicy spectacle, and A-list leads, this gleefully gruesome film ended up fizzling on its 1992 release. But this deliciously deranged dark comedy eventually found redemption in the embrace of the queer community.
Best friends Helen Sharp (Goldie Hawn) and Madeline Ashton (Meryl Streep) have fought over men for years. The final straw comes when Madeline steals Helen’s fiance, the brilliant surgeon Dr. Ernest Menville (Bruce Willis), and marries him herself.
