Women Directed

Dir. Lizzy Barrett USA 76 min

2024

This award-winning film provides a detailed look into redlining: what happened, where it came from, who was involved, how it supposedly “ended”, and why the 1968 Fair Housing Act did not actually get rid of redlining or its impact. Divisible highlights the specific case of Omaha, Nebraska to illustrate and show how redlining continually affects and harms people nationwide. Told through a combination of expert and personal interviews, Divisible explores how redlining impacted and continues to affect the following topics: white privilege, housing, health, education, economics, the highway system, and the criminal justice system.

Reviews
"Divisible challenges Omaha, and America beyond it, to confront the legacy of what it has done, not in definitive condemnation but as a challenge: rise up to your own stated ideals." – The Reader
