Film Information

Adapted from Peter Rock's novel "My Abandonment," Debra Granik's Leave No Trace astounded critics and ended up on numerous top-10 best film lists of 2018 and remains the most-reviewed film to hold a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Much like she did in Winter's Bone, Granik constructs the story with empathy for the characters and their world, creating a film rich in personal complexity and beauty.

Will (Ben Foster) and his teenage daughter, Tom (Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie), have lived off the grid for years in the forests of Portland, Oregon. When their idyllic life is shattered, both are put into social services. After clashing with their new surroundings, Will and Tom set off on a harrowing journey back to their wild homeland.

Reviews
"The intimacy and love between Will and Tom is presented with real delicacy. It’s a movie that will live with me for a long time." –The Guardian

"Debra Granik treats the story with a feather-light touch, while still grounding the film in an almost documentary-style reality. She doesn’t “hammer things home,” she lets things unfold." – Roger Ebert
