No Other Land, directed by a four-person Israeli-Palestinian collective, was mainly filmed between 2019 and 2023 in and around the southern West Bank community of Masafer Yatta. Despite not being picked up by any major distributor in the United States, this Oscar®-nominated documentary is being independently distributed to select theaters nationwide ahead of the Academy Awards.
The film follows Basel Adra, a young Palestinian activist from Masafer Yatta, who has been fighting the mass expulsion of his community since childhood. While documenting the destruction, he meets Yuval, an Israeli journalist who supports his efforts. An unlikely alliance develops, but their relationship is strained by the significant inequality between their experiences: Basel lives under military occupation, while Yuval lives freely without restrictions.
