Omaha-based writer-director Nik Fackler and other members of the film’s crew join us for a special screening of SICK BIRDS DIE EASY. Adventuresome in form and content, the film is the product of a bold plan: to get a group of bohemians to go into the jungles of Gabon, Africa, to ingest iboga, a powerful psychedelic drug rumored to cure addiction, and film their adventure. The team included a drug-abusing conspiracy theorist, an entitled musician, and a handful of untraveled North American artists. The resulting film is a work of art that examines white privilege, the reliability of our perceptions and traditional narratives, and – according to Fackler – the apocalypse.
