In 1974, the most celebrated R&B acts from America came together with the most renowned musical groups in Africa for a three-night concert in Kinshasa, Zaire, at the time of the famous “Rumble in the Jungle” fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. Crafted from the outtakes of the Oscar-winning documentary WHEN WE WERE KINGS, SOUL POWER depicts the experiences and extraordinary performances of such musical luminaries as James Brown, BB King, Bill Withers, Celia Cruz, and a host of other artists inspired by a return to their African roots and the enthusiasm of their Zairian audience. After 34 years in a vault, the footage from this historic concert is finally unearthed for audiences to enjoy.
