The Met’s family-friendly production of Mozart’s dazzling fairy tale returns. The Magic Flute follows the adventures of Prince Tamino and Papageno on their search for the Queen of the Night’s daughter, Pamina. To help conquer the trials and tribulations faced on their quest, the duo are given magical musical instruments, including a magic flute.
About the Creators and Cast
Conductor James Levine and director Gary Halvorson partner to bring Julie Taymor’s vibrant production to life. Ma hew Polenzani appears as Tamino, the brave prince on a quest to win the clever princess Pamina, sung by soprano Ying Huang. The cast also features Nathan Gunn as the luckless bird catcher Papageno, soprano Erika Miklósa as the Queen of the Night, and René Pape as Sarastro.
