Film Information
What happens when you combine the comic genius of Eddie Murphy with Dan Akroyd and director John Landis? You get a timeless comedy classic laced with sidesplitting, satiric humor. While not exactly a traditional holiday film, the trappings of a great holiday movie are there: It does, in fact, take place around the holidays, include a company holiday party, and focus on themes of generosity (or lack thereof) and redemption.
Murphy stars as a small-time con artist who gets a chance to switch lives with Akroyd's big-time stock market maven. But their reversal of fortunes is a cruel joke perpetrated by two bored mega-rich brothers (Don Ameche and Ralph Bellamy) as part of an idle bet.
Reviews
"What’s most visible in the movie is the engaging acting. Murphy and Aykroyd are perfect foils for each other." – Roger Ebert
