Film Streams Welcomes New Executive Director, Maggie Wood

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OMAHA, May 1, 2024 - Film Streams is excited to announce the appointment of Maggie Wood as its new Executive Director. Maggie brings a wealth of experience in executive leadership, strategic partnerships, operational oversight, and community development to the organization, and has accumulated over twenty-five years working with various Omaha institutions.

Maggie transferred to Omaha in 1997 with the Clark Construction Group, a leading building and infrastructure company in the United States. She was part of the general contracting team that built the Roman L. Hruska Federal Courthouse and then spent the following decade focusing on business development and operational management within the construction and supplier industry in Omaha.

In 2006, Maggie transitioned to the non-profit sector, driven by her degree in Theater Arts and Communications from Eureka College. She started her arts career at Opera Omaha, where she served as Audience Services Manager from 2006 to 2009. Maggie also played a pivotal role as the Office and Operations Manager at Film Streams from 2009 to 2012, serving as part of a small and dynamic team in the first few years of the organization’s growth from its opening in 2007.

Maggie's leadership and strategic acumen led her to Inclusive Communities in 2015, where she served as Executive Director for close to 8 years. She successfully revitalized the organization by introducing sustainable, revenue-generating business services, positioning it as a leader in inclusive workplace practices.

Throughout her career, Maggie has excelled in community relations, operations, leadership, and fundraising management, showcasing her holistic understanding of systems and policies to serve communities equitably.

Cindy Heider, Chair of Film Streams' Board of Directors, expressed her excitement about Maggie's appointment, saying, "After an extensive search, we are thrilled to have Maggie Wood join us as our new Executive Director. Her proficient experience in the arts and non-profit sector, combined with her commitment to the community, aligns perfectly with Film Streams' mission. Having served as Interim Executive Director for the past six months, we are confident in Maggie's leadership to guide us into the future."

Accepting her new role, Maggie Wood shared, "I am thrilled to return to Film Streams, an organization close to my heart. Leading this incredible institution and collaborating with our talented team to bring the art of film to our community is truly exhilarating. I look forward to working with our staff, board, and community to strengthen our impactful and community-driven programming that enhances the cultural environment of the Omaha-Council Bluffs area."
