All Sights on Sounds films will screen the second Sunday of the month at 7 pm at the Ruth Sokolof Theater. 

The series returns July 8 with Phantom of the Paradise. The line between satire and sincerity is razor-thin in this comedy horror musical. A rollicking cult classic directed by young Brian De Palma starring Omaha-born soft-rocker Paul Williams, who also created the film’s music.

On Aug 12, it’s Nico, 1988, a new narrative film about the legendary Warhol superstar. Far from her 60s heyday as a vocalist for The Velvet Underground, Susanna Nicchiarelli’s moving biopic  joins Nico for a fateful final tour. A story of a rebirth: of an artist, a mother, and the woman behind the icon.

Milford Graves Full Mantis, showing Sep 9, will close the quarter. This shifting, experimental documentary profiles a central figure in avant garde jazz, shadowing him as he philosophizes on music and beauty, practices in his home dojo, and performs his brand of far-out music .
