The lovelorn Loretta (Cher) has long ago given up on fairytale romance. When her predictable boyfriend (Danny Aiello) proposes, she does the practical thing and accepts. Then, she meets her fiancé’s dishy brother (Nicolas Cage), a manic opera lover who lost his hand in a bakery accident. Under the gaze of the full moon, intangible forces seem to pull her toward this fiery new man, while her parents (Dukakis, Vincent Gardenia) offer what advice they can.
Reviews
"The most enchanting quality about Moonstruck is the hardest to describe, and that is the movie's tone. Reviews of the movie tend to make it sound like a madcap ethnic comedy, and that it is. But there is something more here, a certain bittersweet yearning that comes across as ineffably romantic, and a certain magical quality that is reflected in the film's title." – Roger Ebert
"A romantic comedy that doesn’t skimp in either department." – The Hollywood Reporter
