It’s all in the title. Returning to the annals of literary sci-fi, Starship Troopers has Paul Verhoeven reuniting with RoboCop scribe Edward Neumeier working from Robert A. Heinlein’s source novel. Met with mixed reactions at the time, the film represents Verhoeven’s most bold strokes in the genre (not including Showgirls). By the time American TV's favorite boy doctor enters a scene looking like an SS captain you’re reeling. -- Andy Helmkamp
