Essentially one long, loose improvisation, THE VELVET UNDERGROUND AND NICO provides a rare and intimate glimpse of the band’s earliest days. Blonde chanteuse Nico languorously plays tambourine while legends-in-the-making Lou Reed and John Cale experiment with droning instruments. Nico’s toddler-aged son and Andy Warhol both wonder in and out of the action until an NYPD officer arrives to investigate a noise complaint.
