David Lynch Retrospective

Ruth Sokolof Feb 28 - Mar 6

A director of such distinctive, overpowering vision that he inspired his own adjective, David Lynch made films that seemed telegraphed straight from his unconscious to the screen. Through this week long retrospective, we celebrate the late director's contributions to cinema history.

Blue Velvet

1986

After the failure of the epic sci-fi Dune that nearly ended Lynch’s career, he resolved to make a personal film, and ultimately settled on what would become his undisputed masterpiece of the 1980s, Blue Velvet.

Wild at Heart

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me

1992

Nightmarish in its vision of an innocent torn apart by unfathomable forces, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me is nevertheless one of Lynch's most humane films, aching with compassion for its tortured heroine, a character as enthralling in life as she was in death.

Mulholland Drive

2001

Mulholland Drive is often regarded as David Lynch's magnum opus and as one of the greatest films of all time as a tale of love, jealousy, and revenge like no other.
