Forever Young Family & Children's Series Fall 2016

Ruth Sokolof Oct 1 – Dec 25, 2016

Films in the series will have matinee showings on Saturdays, Sundays, and Thursdays at Film Streams’ Ruth Sokolof Theater. Admission to films in the series for kids 12 and under is just $2.50.

The series begins Saturday, October 1, with KING KONG, the 1933 proto-blockbuster that thrilled audiences with new advances in special effects. The seminal monster movie is one of three cross-overs with Dundee Revival, a repertory series celebrating the art-house past of the Dundee Theater. Others will be the gritty 1948 adaptation of OLIVER TWIST from legendary director David Lean (LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, DOCTOR ZHIVAGO) and a Marx Brothers Double Feature with the hilarious DUCK SOUP and ROOM SERVICE.

The series will also revisit beloved holiday favorites. In HOCUS POCUS, Bette Milder, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy bedevil as a trio of wacky witches just in time for Halloween. And later in the quarter, Yuletide joy will abound with THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL and the essential IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE.

Also on the way: the Omaha premiere of the brand new animated gem LONG WAY NORTH. This stunning polar adventure is the directorial debut from one of the masters behind two of the most jaw-dropping hand-drawn films in recent memory: THE PAINTING and THE SECRET OF KELLS.

The series will also pay tribute to great Gene Wilder with showings of the weird and warm classic that made him a household name: WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.
