About Debra Winger
From her stunning breakthrough in 1980’s URBAN COWBOY to her critically acclaimed role in 2008’s RACHEL GETTING MARRIED, Debra has long been acknowledged as one of the screen’s finest actresses. She has appeared in more than 20 films and received three Academy Award nominations for her outstanding performances in AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN (1982), TERMS OF ENDEARMENT (1983), and SHADOWLANDS (1993). In 2001, she produced and co-starred in BIG BAD LOVE, which her husband Arliss Howard wrote, directed and starred in. Other notable credits include CANNERY ROW (1982), MIKE’S MURDER (1984), THE SHELTERING SKY (1990), and A DANGEROUS WOMAN (1993).

In 2008, Debra received widespread praise and an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her standout performance in director Jonathan Demme’s RACHEL GETTING MARRIED. She also published her debut book, undiscovered, a collection of deeply personal essays reflecting on life. Debra is an activist for such causes as Sight Savers International, an organization working to eradicate blindness in the world’s poorest countries, and Hand In Hand, a multi-lingual co-educational school in the Middle East that allows Arab and Jewish children to learn together.
