Presented in collaboration with Joslyn Art Museum, the series coincides with the museum’s exhibition, In Living Color: Andy Warhol & Contemporary Printmaking from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and his Family Foundation.
Screening Partner
In a 1965 interview, quintessential pop artist Andy Warhol claimed he made films because it was “easier to do than painting.” Clear extensions of his more famous work on canvas, 650 films of various length made from 1963 to 1968 are credited to Warhol.
All films will be projected on 16mm film – a new format for the Ruth Sokolof Theater. A newly acquired projector will throw the films onto the screen from inside the theater, as opposed to from the projection booth, providing an intimate and rare film-going experience.
